Fold Out Series
2012 and ongoing
Based on repetitively folding out from a flat piece of metal to create a 3-dimensional form, appearing more complex than its original basic geometry.
Besides going off on a few inevitable tangents, I have been almost continuously worked with this very simple idea since making the bangles (pictured below) in 2012.
Born of the desire to create larger forms, and the need to be efficient with material as the preparation of the metal is extremely labour intensive, this technique utilises every part of the material and is very satisfying as there is very little waste.
